Are Sea-Flo kits similar to the Oceanflo kits?

Yes, very similar. In fact I exclusively designed and built both products. The new Sea-Flo kits have a redesigned and molded guard. This new feature makes the Sea-Flo kits look even better as well as making them much more economical.

Can a Sea-Flo kit be used with a wavemaker or timer?

While I've had great success using these kits with a wavemaker over long periods of time, and many of my customers have too, there have been some customers who have reported chattering and starting problems while doing so. So I say it's worth a try, but I cannot say for sure if it will work for you.

How does the flow rate vary between the different Sea-Flo models?

Accurate flow rate data will be published soon, but until then here are my estimates:

Sea-Flo 1200 approximately moves 1200-1400 gph.

Sea-Flo 900  approximately moves  1000-1200 gph.

Sea-Flo 600 approximately moves 800-1000 gph.

How much flow does my tank need?

The optimum flow for your tank depends on the animals you keep and is a personal preference. IME, I try to have as much flow as possible without thrashing the inhabitants. Sometimes this can be achieved by simply adjusting the flow direction, for example directing the flow from the lower corner of your tank to the upper front center. This can create a chaotic pattern without direct contact with delicate animals. Experiment. Larger tanks will need multiple units.

How often should I clean my Sea-Flo kit?

Every four or five weeks is best for optimal flow.

What is the best way to mount my Sea-Flo kit?

What pump do I need to run a Sea-Flo kit?

Sea-Flo kits are currently only designed to be used with Maxi-Jet pumps from Aquarium Systems.

Will a Sea-Flo 1200 kit work with my Maxi-Jet 900 or 600 pump?

Yes, but not properly. Use a Maxi-Jet 1200, 900 or 600 with the same model number Sea-flo kit. For example: A Sea-flo 900 should only be used with a Maxi-Jet 900.

Will the warranty cover my Sea-Flo kit if I use it with a wavemaker?

No. Using the kit with a wavemaker can cause irreparable damage to the propeller and is not covered under Sea-Flo's warranty.
